It is easy to sign up for a program because it is available, affordable or advertised well. A better approach is to pick the job you want first, then choose the training that gets you there.
Start with the role
Name a specific job title. Look up local openings and the typical pay range, and read what employers actually require.
Find the gap
Compare those requirements with what you already have: a diploma, certifications, experience or licenses. The difference is what your training should close.
Compare programs on the same terms
- Total cost, including books, exams and fees
- Time to complete
- Accreditation or employer recognition
- Job placement or apprenticeship pathways
- Funding options such as workforce grants
